New Life United Methodist Church is a United Methodist congregation in East Knoxville with a simple mission: to know Christ and show Christ for the transformation of the world.
We are a local church rooted in Scripture, shaped by grace, and committed to loving God and loving our neighbors. We believe faith is not just something we talk about. It is something we practice through worship, prayer, service, community care, and everyday compassion.
Open Hearts
New Life UMC welcomes people wherever they are in their faith journey. Whether you grew up in church, have been away for years, are carrying questions, or are looking for a place to begin again, there is room for you here.
We affirm the dignity and belonging of all people, including our LGBTQ+ siblings in Christ. You do not have to have everything figured out to be part of this community.
New Life UMC has been woven into the East Knoxville community for decades. We serve through our free monthly food pantry, community garden, Second Harvest partnership, produce gleaning, fellowship meals, rummage sales, and other outreach ministries.
We do these things because loving our neighbors is not optional. It is central to following Jesus.
As United Methodists, we are shaped by the Wesleyan tradition of grace, discipleship, and practical faith. We believe God's grace is at work before we recognize it, meets us where we are, and keeps forming us as we grow in love of God and neighbor. John Wesley called this kind of faith "practical divinity": a faith lived out through worship, mercy, justice, humility, and love.
Our Hope
Our hope is to be a church where people encounter God, find community, grow in faith, and join in the work of healing and transformation in the world. In the spirit of John Wesley, we seek to live with open hearts, open minds, and open doors.
We are located at 7921 Millertown Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37924. Reach us at (865) 546-5153 or newlifeumcknoxville@gmail.com.
